Canada conducted its all-program Express Entry draw on 23rd November. The IRCC issued invitations to 4750 candidates who had at least 491 CRS scores. Candidates from three programs, the CEC, FSWP and FSTP, under the Express Entry system were invited.
The all-program Express Entry draws had to stop for over 18 months, starting from December 2020, due to the backlog in applications that occurred during the pandemic.
A New NOC System
The IRCC revised NOC 2016 to bring forth NOC 2021 on 16th November. The new NOC system determines the profession and skill level of an Express Entry candidate.
Earlier, the NOC 2016 classified occupations on the basis of skill levels O-D. The new NOC system, however, creates an equivalent of five TEERS to categorize occupations on the basis of education, training, experience and responsibility.
The new NOC system made 16 new occupations eligible, while three occupations were ineligible for Express Entry. The changes in the eligibility of occupations tend to address labour shortages in sectors like healthcare and tech.

Changes in Express Entry in 2023
The Canadian Government is all set to address labour shortages and economic gaps present in the country. Thus, they passed Bill C-19 recently to allow the IRCC to conduct targeted draws in early 2023.
The criteria for targeted draws differ based on Canada’s economic needs. According to Sean Fraser, the targeted draws will help new permanent residents achieve success and also bridge the urgent gaps in Canada’s workforce.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is the most popular immigration pathway in Canada. Three significant programs work under this system- the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
This system ranks the profiles of each candidate on the basis of the CRS or Comprehensive Ranking System. Candidates with top scores can apply for permanent residency after they receive an ITA or Invitation to Apply.
The IRCC officer reviews the application once you apply for PR. If it is approved, you become a permanent resident of Canada.
